Regret to inform you Chris Rickard passed away yesterday morning, 21st May. Chris was not a RNCA member, but along with Beth Derbyshire were the main links with The Message Project (Semaphore) in November 2005 up the Thames.
He was the stalwart of the Fleetwork trainer for so many years and the ultimate knowledge in Flags and Naval history. He sadly passed away after a very long battle against cancer.
Sam remarked he was very helpful to the Association and traced many Mercury phot's for us after the closure and catalogued them. He will be missed by all, but especially those of the bunting persuasion.
Sad news that Pete Scholey has died from Lung Cancer, Pete was the RS of Antelope down south. More details will be posted when known.
John Eilbeck, a very well known sparker in the 50s - 70s and who eventually left as a Fleet Chief to join the SAN sadly CTB last Saturday.
A big send off is being planned for him at the crem. including a hymn by the Ganges choir.
He joined Ganges on 6/9/49 and moved over to main to join 272 Class, Grenville Division in October 1949.
The Funeral Service of the late FCRS John Eilbeck will take place at 1100 on 7th November 2012 at All Saints Church, Denmead. Thereafter to Portchester Crematorium (FAMILY ONLY), whilst family are away, non family mourners, will camp on a local Denmead pub (tba) to where the family will return on completion of the cremation committal service. At that stage, the family want all attendance to 'celebrate' John's life with a tot of rum. The traditional 'wake' food will be available as per normal.
Very sad - he was my RS on the Scarborough in 1964/65. Taff Thomas 694

Ian crossed the bar on November the 30th 2011,
quite suddenly, totally unexpected. His funeral was on the 15th of December. a quiet family affair at Chatham. A wreath was laid on behalf of the association, and a tribute in flowers in the form of a white ensign was then placed at the Great Lines. Still can't believe it.

I hope that I have picked individuals of the various Naval Associations and Work Places who can let all who knew Pat, by contacting as many as possible their mail lists, get the sad news of her passing. I just hope that I have not missed anyone, but if I have please forward the news.
She gave up last night after five years of hard fighting the cancer, and lost the final battle - She'd taken enough.
The funeral details have not yet been arranged, but can be had from 'Jim Clark - Funeral Directors - 15 High Street, Nairn - Tel - 01667-453234.

Errol was not a member of the RNCA but I joined up with him in Nov 62 at Ganges and the for a few years on the Scarborough (63/64). Not sure when he left the Pusser but he went back to S Ireland.
Sadly I learned via his daugher Hazel that Errol crossed the bar in June this year from a lung infection. Apparently it was very unexpected.
RIP - Taff Thomas 692
